Germany’s Altmaier: Economy must be reactivated as soon as possible

German Economy Minister Altmaier on Friday said that the German economy is in a “situation tougher anything since the war” and argued that it must be reactivated as soon as possible.

Altmaier further added that the economy could achieve a growth of 5% in 2021.

Earlier in the day, the latest data published by Robert Koch Institute revealed that the number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Germany increased by 3,380 to 133,830. The death toll in the country rose by 299 to 3,868.

Market reaction

Risk rally continues on Friday after these comments. As of writing, Germany's DAX 30 Index was up 3.5% on a daily basis.
