GBP/JPY holding near 173.00

FXStreet (Córdoba) - The Pound is rising moderately against the Yen on Thursday, extending weekly gains but the GBP/JPY is still unable to break above the 173.00. During the week the pair approached on Tuesday to the mentioned level but lost momentum.

Currently trades at 172.79, up 0.17% for the day. Since European hours the pair is moving sideways in a range below 173.00 with support at 172.60.

Levels for the GBP/JPY

Below 172.60 the next support could be located at 172.35/40 (daily low) and then 172.15 and 171.90 (April 29 low). To the upside, the key resistance continues to be at 173.00; then comes 173.15 (April 3 high) and 173.55/60 (March 7 high).
