Still no TPP trade deal between US and Japan

FXStreet (Bali) - The US and Japan will have to re-schedule further meetings to reach a final trade deal over the Trans- Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) after Friday's talks proved not enough to get a breakthrough.

Even with the presence of U.S. President Barack Obama in Japan this Friday, some differences, mainly in market access for agricultural products and automobiles, still existed that did not allow to seal an agreement.

According to Japanese Economy Minister Akira Amari, "this time we cannot say there is a basic agreement," following 2 days of talks. However, Amari added that "overall, the gaps are steadily narrowing," he said.
