Markets: What to look out for this week – Deutsche Bank

According to analysts at Deutsche Bank suggest that it’s a quiet start to the week and in the European morning, the only release of note in Europe is Italy's August general government debt numbers.

“In the US, we’ll see the October Empire manufacturing release along with September retail sales and August business inventories. Away from the data, ECB vice president Luis de Guindos will speak at an event in Madrid while, Euro-area countries including Italy send final budgets to the EC for approval. Bank of America will report earnings.”

“Tuesday: Overnight, we get China's September PPI and CPI. In Europe, we will see Italy's August industrial sales and final September CPI, UK's September claimant count rate and August employment report, the Euro area's August trade balance and October ZEW survey of expectations and, Germany's October ZEW current situation and expectations survey, all in morning. In the US, we get September industrial production, capacity utilization and manufacturing production along with the October NAHB housing market index and August Jolts job openings and total net TIC flows. Away from data, the EU European Affairs ministers are expected to sign off on the draft of Brexit summit conclusions and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte will address the lower house of parliament. Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Blackrock, Johnson & Johnson, IBM and Netflix will report earnings.”

“Wednesday: The key highlight of the day is the release of the latest FOMC policy meeting minutes at 19:00 BST. In Europe, we get the September EU27 new car registrations, the UK's September CPI, RPI, PPI input, PPI output and August house price index along with minutes of the BoE's Oct Financial Policy Committee meeting and the Euro area's August construction output and final September CPI, all in morning. In the US, we get September housing starts and building permits along with latest weekly MBA mortgage applications. Away from data, the EU leaders, without the U.K., will start to discuss the next steps for Brexit in Brussels while, ECB Chief Economist Peter Praet will be speaking at an event in Madrid. US Bancorp and Northern Trust will report their earnings.”

“Thursday: Overnight, we get Japan's September trade balance. In Europe, the only release of note is the UK's September retail sales in the morning. In the US, we get latest weekly initial jobless claims and continuing claims along with the September leading index. Away from data, the Fed's Bullard and BoJ Governor Kuroda will be speaking at different times. EU leaders will meet for a summit in Brussels to discuss the banking union and strengthening the euro-area’s bailout fund. American Express and Blackstone in US and Novartis in Europe will be reporting their earnings.”

“Friday: Overnight, we get Japan's September CPI and China's Q3 GDP along with September jobless rate, retail sales, industrial production and fixed assets YTD. In Europe, we get the Euro area's August current account balance, Italy’s August current account balance and the UK's September public finances data. In the US, the only release of note is September existing home sales. Away from the data, BoJ Governor Kuroda will be speaking overnight while the Fed's Kaplan and BoE Governor Carney will be speaking in the afternoon and, Fed's Bostic will speak in the evening. P&G will report its earnings.”
