US: Republicans and Democrats reach a deal to end shutdown
- Senate Leaders announce a deal to reopen the government.
- Senate ready to pass the bill to end the 3-day shutdown.
- House later must pass it to end the shutdown.
Senate Republicans and Democrats reached a deal to end the government shutdown, at least until February 8th. On the third day of the shutdown, Chuck Schumer, top Senate Democrat, said he would vote to fund the government along with other Democrats.
After the US Senate approves the bill, it would go to the House where it has to pass in order to end the shutdown.
The vote will take place later today in the Senate but is expected to pass.
