US: Jobless claims fall to 326,000
FXstreet.com (Córdoba) - Initial jobless claims for regular state unemployment-insurance benefits fell by 2,000 to a seasonally adjusted 326,000 in the week ended Jan 11, the Labor Department reported Thursday.
This reading came in below expectations of 328,000 and also below the 328,000 registered the previous week (revised down from 330,000).
Continuing claims, which reflect people already receiving benefits, rose by 174,000 to a seasonally adjusted 3,030,000 in the week ended January 4 vs. 2,856,000 in the previous week (revised).
