US stocks end lower, Brexit vote eyed

US stocks closed lower, but off session lows, on Wednesday amid uncertainty ahead of the UK vote on EU membership, which has became a close call. On the last day before the referendum, the ‘leave’ camp is gaining ground according to Opinium and TNS polls released over the last hours.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 48.90 points, or 0.27%, to finish at 17,780.83. The S&P 500 Index declined 3.45 points, or 0.17%, to close at 2,085.45. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 10.44 points, or 0.22%, to 4,833.32.
