US House to postpone vote on latest republican bill
FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Some unwelcome news relating to the fluid U.S. political situation in Washington were just published, with the US House panel reportedly delaying to take a vote on the latest House Republican bill to raise debt ceiling.
The headline read: "US House panel postpones action on latest House Republican bill to raise debt ceiling", which seems to suggest, there might not be a vote in the U.S. tonight. As Eamonn Sheridan from Forexlive notes: "This would have allowed Republicans to bring their bill to the floor to open government and lift the debt ceiling."
The news come after Fitch news agency announced it has placed the U.S. credit rating in negative watch for potential downgrade on the basis of "high risk that US authorities will not raise the debt ceiling in a timely manner before the Treasury exhausts extraordinary measures on 17 Oct."
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, cited by Politico, had already warned that credit rating agencies were considering a downgrade of the United States "as early as tonight," adding "the debt is here. The deadline is looming and rating agencies are talking about downgrading us as early as tonight."
