“AUD Westpac Consumer Sentiment is the only release to watch for the rest of this week. Consumer sentiment is trading at year to date lows, while business conditions and sentiment are at year to date highs. Will Consumer sentiment play catchup?”

“NZD The marquee event for this week is Q2 CPI. We forecast a +0.7%/qtr increase, (was +0.8%/qtr prior food prices for June out yesterday) above the RBNZ’s +0.4%/qtr from the June MPS. Other data to watch - the fortnightly dairy auction and consumer confidence data.”

“CNY A heavy data week in China, with a series of hard data releases out to coincide with Q2 GDP. For GDP, TD forecasts +6.9%/yr,slightly above the +6.8%/yr market consensus. We forecast IP, Retail sales and fixed asset investment to be mildly softer tomorrow.”

USD/JPY frozen around 123.40, US data eyed

The US dollar continues to trade around a flat line versus the Japanese in the late-European session, keeping USD/JPY stuck around 123.40 levels. The major trades muted amid lack of fundamental triggers mainly awaiting fresh incentives from the upcoming retail sales data from the US.
