USD/CAD firmer, 1.2600 on sight

FXStreet (Edinburgh) - The US dollar keeps appreciating vs. its Canadian neighbor on Wednesday, now lifting USD/CAD to fresh highs near 1.2600 the figure.

USD/CAD prints 2-month tops

The pair continues its march higher today, advancing to the boundaries of the 1.2600 handle, levels last traded in mid-April. Strong USD-buying is sending spot higher, backed at the same time by solid prints from today’s US calendar, hopes of a positive surprise in tomorrow’s Non-farm Payrolls and the increasing uncertainty around Greece and the outcome of Sunday’s referendum.

At the moment the pair is up 0.70% at 1.2583 with the initial hurdle at 1.2602 (high Apr.14) ahead of 1.2646 (high Apr.13) and finally 1.2666 (high Apr.10). On the other hand, a breakdown of 1.2362 (low Jun.30) would aim for 1.2304 (low Jun.29) and then 1.2276 (low Jun.24).
