Wall Street closes down on choppy FOMC's Wednesday
FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - In a volatile session, the US stocks market closed down as investors were disappointed from the FOMC minutes as the release provided no clear signal on when the Fed will begin to taper its monthly bond-buying program.
Stocks initially reacted down to session lows following the FOMC minutes, but the majors indexes bounced back to positive in the next hour. Then recovery faded and it closed on negative. The Dow Jones performed its firs 6-day losing streak since July 2012.
The Dow Jones declined 105.44 points or 0.70% on the day to close at 14,897.55. The S&P 500 eased 9.55 pts or 0.58% to 1,642.80. And the Nasdaq Composite lost 13.80 pts or 0.38% to 3,599.79.
