No breakthrough on Greek negotiations
FXStreet (Córdoba) - As widely expected, there were no big breakthroughs on negotiations between Greece and its creditors after Monday’s Eurogroup meeting. The Eurogroup said it welcomes progress in negotiations so far, but more time and effort are needed to bridge gaps on remaining issues.
Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis also agreed that progress being made, but warned that Greece’s liquidity problem is a “terribly urgent issue”.
The Greek government has been negotiating with its international lenders for months on a reform program, but still it has been unable to unlock another tranche of bailout funds due to labor and pension reforms disagreements.
Eurogroup Chairman Jeroen Dijsselbloem said that Greece could get partial disbursements in exchange for partial implementation of measures.
Greece to make €750 million IMF repayment
Meanwhile, Greece has executed the order to make a €750 million IMF repayment due on Tuesday. As Greece is close to running out of Money, there has been fears the country would struggle to meet its obligations.
