GBP/USD breaks below 1.4900

FXStreet (Córdoba) - GBP/USD came under pressure during the American afternoon and fell to fresh daily lows after leaving the 1.49 support area behind.

Cable accelerated to the downside in a bout of dollar demand, and fell to a fresh low of 1.4869 in quick move. At time of writing, GBP/USD is trading at 1.4880, recording a 0.23% loss on the day and 100 pips below daily highs.

GBP/USD had reached a daily high of 1.4980 at the beginning of the New York session, but turned lower and cut Friday’s nonfarm payrolls inspired gains.

GBP/USD levels to watch

In terms of technical levels, GBP/USD could find immediate supports at 1.4857 (100-hour SMA) and 1.4809 (Apr 3 low). On the flip side, resistances are seen at 1.4980 (daily high), 1.5000 (psychological level) and 1.5008 (Mar 19 high).

USD/JPY rises above 119.50, erases NFP losses

USD/JPY broke above 119.50 and printed a fresh daily high at 119.67. The US dollar extended gains during the American session, trimming losses as stocks in Wall Street consolidate on positive territory. The Dow Jones is up 0.80% and the Nasdaq gains 0.68%.
