Under these circumstances, there cannot be a deal today - Greek official
FXStreet (Córdoba) - First headlines coming out from the Eurogroup meeting. Greek government official said Eurogroup discussed “unreasonable” and “unacceptable” draft text that insisted on continuation of bailout, according to Reuters.
The same official said under these circumstances, there cannot be a deal today.
Greece’s bailout programme is due to expire on February 28, and Eurozone members are trying to get Greece to take an extension. However, Greek officials had reiterated they will not take any extension and will not cooperate with the troika.
Earlier today, German finance minister Schäuble said Greece had been “behaving rather irresponsibly”. “What I have heard so far has not strengthened my optimism. As long as the Greek government doesn’t want a programme I don’t have to think about options.”
