Australia ANZ Job Advertisements rise for sixth straight week

FXStreet (Bali) - Australia ANZ Job Advertisements increased to 0.7% in November from previous 0.2%, representing the sixth consecutive rise in job advertising.

Highlights - ANZ

"Job advertisements rose a further 0.7% m/m in November to record their sixth consecutive monthly rise (in seasonally adjusted terms). Job ads have now trended higher for 13 months and are up 8.9% over the year to November. A number of similarly forward-looking indicators suggest labour market conditions have improved, or at least stabilised, at a time when the underlying trend from the official labour market statistics is hard to garner."

"The improvement in November was driven by internet job ads, which rose 0.9% m/m to be up close to 10% y/y. On the other hand, newspaper job ads declined a hefty 5.4% m/m. After moderating noticeably over the course of 2014, the pace of deterioration in newspaper job ads appears to have stepped up in recent months, although these series are particularly volatile and make up only 5% of overall ANZ job ads."

"The volatility in newspaper job ads was particularly apparent this month, with a number of states recording large moves. Stepping back and taking into account the trends in the broader suite of job ads measures suggests labour demand is continuing to improve in a number of states."

"The improvement is particularly notable in NSW and Victoria, and to a lesser extent Queensland and the ACT. Meanwhile, job advertising trends in WA and Tasmania remain mixed, and are broadly weakening in the NT."
